Jamestown Man Arrested For DUI Following Phoenix Lake Accident
Sonora, CA — A Jamestown man faces DUI charges after a rollover accident on Phoenix Road yesterday.
CHP spokesman Tom Wills says 44-year-old Earl Mawyer was travelling southbound approaching Sullivan Creek when he failed to make the curve.
Wills says Mawyer hit the guardrail and drove off the road, rolling down an embankment and into the creek.
Several agencies and a hazmat team were called to the scene to clean up a fuel spill from the vehicle and safe guard the creek from being contaminated.
Mawyer was flown to Memorial Hospital in Modesto with moderate injuries. Wills says Mawyer was arrested at the hospital for driving under the influence.
