San Jose Airport Adds Cell Phone Lot

San Jose, CA — Picking up friends and family at the San Jose airport just got a bit easier.
Instead of getting shooed away by traffic cops and circling the terminal endlessly, now there´s a special “cell phone lot.”
Drivers can wait for as long as a half-hour in the 49-space lot. You must remain in your car and there´s no pedestrian access to the terminal.
Basically, it´s an area where you can wait until the person you´re picking up calls to say, “I´m here, come get me.”
Nearly two dozen airports nationwide, including Oakland, have cell phone lots.
They´re meant to ease traffic delays at passenger pickup areas. San Jose´s lot opened Friday.
