San Andreas, CA — After the discovery of the first local case of West Nile Virus in San Andreas last week, county health officials are warning residents to take precautions in their outdoor activities this summer.

Officials recommend the liberal use of insect repellant containing DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus for maximum protection.

The health department also says long sleeve shirts and long pants should be worn at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
