CHP Determined To Stop DUI Drivers Over Holiday
Sonora, CA — Because of the highly traveled roads this weekend, extra CHP officers will be targeting motorists who drink and drive.
The CHP says that Independence Day weekend in a maximum enforcement period. One CHP officer says that most local officers wont be at home with their families, they will be on duty making sure other people can get home to theirs safely.
DUI rates have been increasing in California and nation-wide for the past few years, so the CHP says it is imperative for them to get the numbers down.
The officers want people to know that they have zero tolerance for drinking and driving anytime, not just during a holiday. The CHP also advises motorists to buckle-up and use a designated driver.
