Police Shooter AWOL Marine
The suspect involved in the shooting death of a cop in Ceres Sunday night has been identified as a 19 year-old United States Marine from Modesto.
His name has still not been released.
Officers from seven agencies responded to the call of an armed robbery just after 8pm Sunday.
The suspect and officers exchanged shots… and Sergeant Howard Stevenson and Officer Sam Ryno were both shot that night. Stevenson later died of his injuries at an area hospital.
After the shooting, the suspect fled, homes were evacuated and nearly a square mile of roadways in Ceres were closed off.
Three hours later, the suspect was found hiding behind a home and was shot by police in an alley.
The suspect had allegedly been reported absent without leave from Camp Pendleton on Saturday night, had served in Iraq but didn´t want to return.
