More Review Needed before Lowes Permit Considered
Sonora planning officials are still gathering information in advance of a public meeting to consider the construction of a massive, new hardware store in the city limits. Community Development Director Ed Wyllie says several issues , including the potential impact on traffic, must be sorted out before the application to construct a Lowes Hardware store can go up for a vote before the Planning Commission. Wyllie says that the city´s Community Development Department must gather input from several reporting agencies and an environmental review must be completed before the proposal can be given full consideration. If granted approval, the chain-home improvement center could employ over 100 people. The location of the proposed business is on Old Ward´s Ferry Road near Wal Mart.
