Snow Falls In Sonora, Columbia, Doesn’t Stick

Sponsored by:

Rain mixed with snow is falling in Sonora and chain and Four Wheel Drive requirements for motorists have dropped as low as Standard near the Sonora bypass. An intense storm cell will be concentrated above the Mother Lode this afternoon, dropping heavy rain in the foothills and heavy snow above 2000 feet. Jamestown based California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Wills says the number of accidents in the area have been minimal, in spite of the deluge.

The wildly wet weather has caused some mud slide and rock slides and may have been a factor in a two vehicle collision on Highway 108 at Sierra Village this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the region through tonight. Skies are forecast to clear this evening, making way for clear and dry weather through the end of the week.
