A trio of Thursday Traffic Alerts from the Sonora Police Department for the downtown area:
Traffic is very backed up on Washington Street in both directions this morning.
Washington Street is closed from Stockton to Theall due to a non injury traffic accident.
2 moving cars and a parked car are involved. Sonora Police units are on the scene, and tow trucks are coming.
—-A pretty major water main break is reported on Stewart Street between Lytton and Restano Way. Crews are doing emergency repairs at this hour.
Dispatchers at the police department say water had been reported coming up through as many as three manholes in the area.
Stewart from Lytton to Restano will be closed indefinitely as crews work to get a handle on the situation.
The Tuolumne Utilities District says the closure will last for up to six hours, maybe longer.
—-And at Yaney Street between Green and Norlin, repairs to the clock tower are being done using a large crane.
Barricades are up and the area will be closed to traffic until noon.
Avoid downtown if you can.
