Three-Vehicle Wreck Leaves Three Injured
Foggy conditions and a momentary loss of consciousness are blamed for a three-vehicle accident which happened Saturday evening on Highway 12.
52-year-old Matthew Woods was driving his 1990 Dodge Ram pickup westbound on Highway 12. The California Highway Patrol says he lost consciousness due to a medical condition. Woods went off the roadway to the right, hit a rock embankment, and veered back across the roadway, blocking both lanes.
30 year-old Brian Abraham of Angels Camp tried to stop his Toyota Tacoma, but hit Woods´s truck and spun around, facing east in the westbound lane. Then 20-year-old Joshua Chambers of Valley Springs collided with both trucks in his Mitsubishi Lancer.
Woods was taken to a San Joaquin County Hospital with moderate injuries. Chambers and his passenger were taken to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital with minor injuries.
