Secretary of State Kevin Shelley faces a damaging new state report on his alleged verbal attacks on staffers and questionable hiring practices.
Meanwhile, stories about his possible resignation are swirling inside the Capitol. But a Shelley spokeswoman said today that he has — quote — no intention of resigning. The state Board of Personnel is due to release a report at 9 a-m tomorrow on allegations that Shelley frequently lost his temper at work. Shelley has also been accused of making sexually suggestive remarks to staffers and creating a hostile working environment in California´s top elections office.
The report is the second such audit of Shelley´s conduct in six weeks. The 49-year-old Democrat has denied many of the accusations that stem from complaints filed with the state by former staffers.
