Reactions To President Fall Along Party Lines

Sponsored by:

President Bush´s State of the Union Address is getting high praise from members of his own party.

Mother Lode area 19th Congressional District Representative Georege Radanovich says he was surprised by the jeering of Democrats when the President stated the Social Security system would soon be bankrupt.

Radonavich says he agrees with the President that Social Security needs to be reformed now in order to save a lot of money down the road.

The President wants younger tax payers to be able to divert some of the money they pay into Social Secuirty into personal retirement accounts. The money in the accounts could only be withdrawn in payments spread out over a period of time.

The results of a recent ABC News poll indicate that the country remains almost exactly evenly divided regarding the President´s job performance . Radanovich says he wasn´t surprised by the partisan reaction to the President´s Address last night and that he doesn´t see the gap closing between Republicans and Democrats in the House.

Bush talked about the economy, the war on terror, Social Security, stem-cell research and other topics during his Address to the nation last night.
