Take Women To Heart
The annual “Take Women to Heart” campaign was staged Friday at Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital in San Andreas.
The goal of the event is raise awareness and educate people about heart disease. Heart disease and stroke are the number one killer of women in the United States. Many of the women attending the event were dressed in red in support of the national campaign´s motto, “Go Red for Women.”
Speakers included: Colleen Smart, the president of the Mark Twain Health Care District Board of Directors and American Heart Association official, Sandra Lema. The keynote speaker was Dr. Leslie Brocchini. Brocchini is a member of the AMA and joined the hospital´s staff 12 years ago. Her remarks focused on prevention.
