Victim In Fatal Crash Identified
The Coroner has identified 61-year old Lynda Deshields as the person killed in a two-car crash at Highway 26 and Silver Rapids Road near Valley Springs on Thursday night.
A CHP official says 66-year old Harley Shields was travelling northbound in a Saturn sedan on Silver Rapids Road with his wife in the passenger seat. The car was approaching Highway-26 at about 6:35. A Jeep Cherokee driven by 42-year old Camille Davis was headed westbound on the highway approaching Silver Rapids Road at the same time.
Investigators say that the two cars collided when Deshields failed to stop at the stop sign. Harley Deshields suffered major injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Davis and two teen passengers in the jeep suffered minor injuries. They were treated at the hospital and released.
