Oakland Man Sues County Over Severed Fingers
An Oakland man that lost a portion of his fingers in a rope-swing accident last 4th of July is suing Calaveras County.
The Enterprise reports that Luis Torres severed his fingers while playing on a rope-swing at Lake Tulloch. Torres´ attorney filed the suit against the county, but the Board of Supervisors rejected it because the accident happened on private property. Torres´ attorney claims the county is liable since it operates a boat patrol on the lake because county personnel have allegedly removed the swing on several occasions. County Counsel Jim Jones disagrees and the case will likely play out in court.
