Tuolumne, Calaveras Counties Settle Lawsuit
Tuolumne County has settled its lawsuit with neighboring Calaveras County over the impact of a large subdivision west of Copperopolis.
Oak Canyon Ranch is designed to contain 3,475 residential units at build-out. The subdivision is located off of O´Byrnes Ferry Road near Tulloch Reservoir . Tuolumne County entered into litigation against Calaveras County in an effort to recoup money to cover the cost of increased maintenance on the road after the homes were built.
5th District Tuolumne County Supervisor Dick Pland says the Board voted on Tuesday in favor of settling the lawsuit, contingent upon Calaveras County covering mitigation to offset the cost of increased road maintenance.
Oak Canyon Ranch serves as home base to property owners and renters. Tuesday´s settlement ends about a year and-a-half of litigation between the 2 counties.
