Mountain Ranch Man Arrested With Machine Gun, Explosive
A Calaveras County man is being held after being arrested for allegedly being in possession of an explosive and illegal firearms.
Sheriff Dennis Downum says 59 year old Robert Kinholt was arrested after deputies were dispatched to his Pine Needle Drive residence in Mountain Ranch to investigate alleged explosives and illegal firearm activity.
Investigators found a 9 millimeter machine gun with high capacity magazines and live rounds, an unidentified explosive, along with several other firearms and ammunition. Kinholt is being charged with possession of a machine gun and illegal ammunition and with being a felon in possession of firearms.
He was booked into Calaveras County jail with his bail set at $60,000.
