Assembly OKs Plan to Create Women’s History Section in History Museum
SACRAMENTO (AP) __ Compromise legislation to create a women´s history section in the California history museum has been approved by the state Assembly.
The measure by Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez was sent to the Senate today by a 69 to nothing vote. Nunez says the bill will allow the Golden State Museum to change its name, restructure its board and add a very important component covering the contributions women have made to California. First lady Maria Shriver lobbied last year to turn the museum entirely into a women´s history museum, but backed off that idea after three museum board members resigned in protest.
