Tuolumne County Supervisors To Consider Cellular Ordinance
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will be hearing from the county Chamber of Commerce today on the cellular tower ordinance.
The chamber is asking the board to relax zoning restrictions on cell tower construction in order to keep up with demand. The chamber says government restrictions are standing in the way of new technology coming to the area.
Chamber members also say the ordinance also poses a safety risk after a lack of cell phone reception has delayed the response of rescue personnel to car accidents.
Supporters of the ordinance say it is important to keep cellular tower construction limited to areas away from public view and out of areas important to tourism.
