Relay For Life Raises More Than $130,000

Sonora, CA — Organizers say last weekend´s “Relay For Life” brought together hundreds of participants from Tuolumne County and raised more than $130,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Event chairwoman Merri Strachen says both teams and individuals were on hand to participate in the 24-hour event. One team reportedly raised $14,789 while one individual collected $1,730.
Thirty-six teams took part along with more than 130 survivors. A luminary ceremony was also held to remember those who have succumbed to cancer, and to honor the survivors.
The event is the Cancer Society´s largest fundraiser.
