2005 Mother Lode Roundup In The Books
Sonora, CA — The 2005 Mother Lode Roundup is in the books, and now organizers say it´s time to get to work on next year.
Sunday´s rodeo action capped the two-day event that began with the 48th annual Mother Lode Roundup Parade Saturday Morning.
Organizers say they´re pleased with the turnout this year, despite Sunday´s wet weather. Grand Marshall Ty Wivvel says the Roundup gets better every year.
Hundreds braved the soggy weather Sunday to come out and see the rodeo. The winner of this year´s Bareback riding event was Tyson Thompson of Templeton, CA.
The Saddle Bronc competition was split four ways, between Justin Arnold, John Flook, Jerad McFarlane and Duf Dufurrena.
Rhett Kennedy of Chowchilla was the top steer wrestler and Cathy Cagliari took the top spot in Barrel Racing. The team roping title went to Jay Chesson and Scott Harvey.
Bobby Waller of Quail Valley took the Bull riding event, while Tom Erickson and Ryle Smith tied for first in Tie-down calf roping.
Grownups weren´t the only ones having fun competing. In the kids Mutton Busting event, Hunter Champe had the winning ride, and Barbara Dowling was voted best dressed.
