Valley Springs, CA – Calaveras County Animal Services (CCAS) hopes the public can help reunite these cattle dogs with their owner and get them home before the new year.
Recognize these pooches? Shelter officials relay that they are friendly but have no collars or chips to identify who they may belong to in the Valley Springs area, where they were found off South Camanche Parkway. One is an intact male, and the other is a female. Anyone having any information regarding their owner is asked to call the shelter at 209-754-6509.

Currently, due to being over capacity at the shelter, they are being held at an out-of-county facility. Animal Services officials say that is a big problem right now with shelters across the state. They believe the image on the right depicts the problem of overcrowding and say the public’s help is needed.
“We are asking our community to please spay and neuter, microchip, and get your pet licensed to help REDUCE overpopulation and strays,” shared CCAS.
While noting that the shelter does not offer reduced spay/neuter vouchers or clinics, there are places in the central California zone that do. Animal services added, “If you must rehome your animal, please do so in the most humane way possible. Remember, animal abandonment is a misdemeanor under Calaveras Code 06.10.040. We do have a list of resources for rehoming (as we rarely take owner surrenders) and reduced vet clinics.”
For more information regarding these resources, call the shelter at 209-754-6509, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
