Buckle Up Or Pay A Fine Starting May 16th
Sonora, CA — Starting May 16th Mother Lode drivers are being encouraged to “click it, or get a ticket.”
Police Chief Mace McIntosh is warning people that officers will be issuing tickets to drivers and passengers who are not wearing seatbelts from May 16th through June 5th.
The Special enforcement period is part of the National “Click it or Ticket” campaign.
McIntosh said that although they will be giving tickets, the ultimate goal is saving lives, and preventing injuries.
According to McIntosh taking a few seconds to buckle a seat belt is the most effective thing a person can do to save their life.
The maximum fine for seat belt violations for people 16 and older in Tuolumne County is $90 for the first offense and $205 for a second offense.
