Attorney General Lockyer Comments On Supreme Court Medical Marijuana Decision

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — California Attorney General Bill Lockyer says he is disappointed with today´s Supreme Court Decision upholding federal laws that prohibit the use of medical marijuana regardless of state laws that allow it.

Lockyer issued a statement today saying medical marijuana patients in California should know that “federal laws are no different today than yesterday.”

He said that Proposition 215, otherwise known as the Compassionate Use Initiative, still stands in California, however the conflict between state and federal law means that the state´s marijuana patients still run the risk of arrest and prosecution when they grow or use marijuana as medicine.

Lockyer urged those who support medicinal marijuana use should tell their congressional representatives to re-examine federal marijuana laws that ban its use.
