Modesto Police Arrest Two In Car Burglaries

Modesto, CA — Modesto Police have two people in custody following a string of car burglaries in various locations around the city and county.

Police received a report from a citizen who reportedly read about the burglaries in the newspaper and recognized the description of the vehicle being used in the crimes.

The woman also said her bank had notified her that one of her stolen checks had been used to order a pizza to be delivered to a mobile home park. Police identified the location and set up surveillance.

Officers say they conducted a traffic stop on a car seen leaving the property and found several stolen items in the car. The victim was able to identify the items and the suspects.

Police also seized an air pistol they say was used to smash the car windows of the victims. Several other stolen items were located at the suspects´ house after a search warrant was served.

32-year-old Manuel Bairos and 26-year-old Shiloh Dutra were arrested and booked into jail on $15,000 bail.

Police say the investigation continues.
