San Joaquin County Officials Close Portions Of Mokelumne River
Stockton, CA — The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has issued a decision to close parts of the Mokelumne River to all watercraft for most of the summer.
The board voted unanimously to make the closures after a man died on the river over the Memorial Day weekend.
The decision closes the river from the fish hatchery at McIntire Road to Bruella Road in Victor, and from Woodbridge Dam to Peltier Road in Lodi.
Those areas were closed yesterday and will remain off limits until at least the first weekend in August. The closures apply to every type of watercraft including rafts and inner tubes.
The Sheriff´s Office says 13 rafters have been rescued from the river since Memorial Day.
