Hughson Man Killed In Highway 120 Collision

Sponsored by:

Knights Ferry, CA — An 80-year-old Hughson man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 120 near Knights Ferry yesterday.

Authorities say the crash closed down the highway for nearly three hours late yesterday afternoon.

Police say Alvin Qualle was stopped in a Buick LeSabre at the stop sign at Sonora Road, waiting to make a left turn onto Highway 120. Investigators say Qualle moved into the intersection and into the path of a Chevrolet Pickup driven westbound by 57-year-old Michael Standley of Modesto.

Reports indicate the two vehicles collided on the highway. Qualle was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Two others, including Qualle´s wife Margaret who was a passenger in the Buick, were transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor.
