Angels Camp Residents To Sound Off On Sales Tax Increase

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — A public information meeting will allow residents of Angels Camp to voice their views on a proposed city sales tax increase tonight.

The three-quarter cent increase will need a two-thirds vote among residents in mail-in ballot election in August.

The tax was proposed to fund a Highway 49 bypass which would connect Greenhorn Creek and Angel Oaks Drive to the highway from the north and south.

Opponents of the project say it will increase traffic through the area and drive property values down.

The proposal would increase the city´s sales tax from 7.25% to 8%.
