Not Enough Foster Parents In Tuolumne County According To Social Services

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Department of Social Services is lacking Foster Parents to a point that children are being sent over to Calaveras County for shelter.
Department spokesperson Laura Long said that lately, she has not had a good turn out at the Forster Parent orientation, which is every third Thursday evening between 6:00 and 7:00 at the Public Health Department Building in Sonora.
At the end of May, Long said they had 94 children and only 31 homes. She said in situations like that, it is very difficult to keep the siblings together.
Although there is compensation for clothes, groceries, and other household needs, Long said that the real incentive comes from the heart.
