Board Approves Stop Signs and Speed Limits

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Stop signs will be added and new speed limits will be effective soon, after the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors approved the ordinances at Tuesday´s meeting.

The Supervisors waived the second reading and approved the ordinance to establish speed limits of 35 and 45 miles per hour on Tuolumne Road North.

The consideration of approving the ordinance to put in a four way stop at the intersection of Jamestown Road and Racetrack Road was also approved.

Although Supervisor Mark Thornton voted to approve the stop signs, he said it would be a good idea to put in signs to warn drivers of the upcoming stop because of its lack of visibility.

Department of Public Works Director Peter Rei said he sees eye to eye with Thornton on the issue and said Staff would likely agree.

The Board will have a second reading of the ordinance at their next meeting.
