Three Arrested For Vandalizing Old Whitt Mill
Sonora, Ca — One adult male and two male juveniles were arrested yesterday for their involvement in spray painting graffiti on the old Whitt Mill in Sonora.
At around 3:30pm, officers watched a 15 year old spray paint the side of the building, while a 16 year old watched. A 19 year old, Phillip Simons of Sonora was later found inside the building.
Lieutenant Mark Stinson with the Sonora Police Department says he believes the individuals arrested were not connected to some previous vandalism at the Heaven for Kids Park.
Stinson notes, “This type of graffiti was different than what was sprayed at the Heaven For Kids Park. We don´t believe they were involved with that graffiti down there, however, they did admit to doing some other graffiti in town.”
Simons was booked into Tuolumne County Jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The two juveniles were taken to the Tuolumne County Probation Department. They are charged with conspiracy to vandalize with paint, and possession of spray paint with the intent to vandalize.
