Sonora, CA — Two Sonora teenagers have been caught in the act of shoplifting this week at Mervyn´s.
Tuesday 19 year old Katherine Shaw was caught after trying to steal two pair of jeans, a pair of shoes and several pieces of jewelry valued at $220. That incident was reported to the Sonora Police Department.
Today a 16 year old female entered the lingerie department where she tried on a bra and a pair of tights valued at $50. She proceeded to put her clothing on over those two items and exited the store where she was apprehended. Even though she is a minor and was shoplifiting less than $100 in merchandise, because of her school probation status, her shoplifting incident was reported to the Police Department .
Brian Gault, Department Supervisor of Loss Prevention at Sonora Mervyn´s, says his staff is always on the lookout for shoplifters and he adds that it is truly a full time job.
