Winter Storm Warning For Portions Of Sierra Nevada

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, Ca — Some winter weather is headed toward areas of the Sierra Nevada.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Southern Sierra Nevada from Yosemite Park South to the Kern County Line from 6pm this evening until 12pm Wednesday.

A second system is then expected to arrive in the area Wednesday afternoon.

Snow levels will initially be near 7000 feet late Tuesday, and possibly lowering to 4500 feet by Wednesday. Total snowfall is projected to range from two to four feet above 7000 feet, and up to a foot and a half as far south as Sequoia Park.

Strong winds are also likely, with gusts up to 70 mph through the canyons and across ridges. The National Weather Service reports that this could result in considerable blowing and drifting of snow.
