CDF Officials Offer Tips To Prevent A Christmas Tree Disaster
Sonora, CA– Christmas can be a time of family gatherings and laughter, but the California Department of Forestry says it is also a time to be extremely cautious; especially when it comes to Christmas trees.
CDF officials say to prevent a Christmas catastrophe from occurring, be sure to keep the trunk of the tree in water and never let the water level go below the bottom of the trunk.
They remind Mother Lode residents to place the tree away from all sources of heat and never to leave a lighted tree unattended. Lastly, be sure to remove the tree immediately after the holidays. For more information on holiday tree fire safety visit www.fire.ca.gov
