Sonora, CA– Many Mother Lode residents are all smiles after receiving baskets filled with food and toys.
Thanks to the Family to Family Program, 162 families in need will have food on the table and presents under the tree for Christmas. Early this morning, several organizations in Tuolumne County gathered at Benites Distributing to put together baskets filled with canned hams and other food items donated by companies and individuals throughout the county.
Delivering the food and gifts were C.H.P., Sonora Police Department, the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department, the Sheriff Department´s Posse and Community Service Units.
Jim Rodgers with the Sheriff´s Posse says this is a really good program and that it really is a cooperative effort between local law enforcement agencies and community members within Tuolumne County. The program began about twenty years ago when several groups of friends decided to help other families in the community who were in need.
