Update at 3:44 p.m.: PG&E reports that the power has been restored to all 204 customers who were still without electricity since just after 9 a.m. Those impacted were in the Gibbs Ranch area around Racetrack Road, Gibbs Drive, and Fallon Drive. As reported earlier below, the utility reported that it was an unplanned outage that originally left 1,476 customers in the dark in downtown Sonora and surrounding areas. While the company did not give an exact cause, they did state that “a crew shut off power to make an urgent repair safely.”

Update at 2:25 p.m.: PG&E reports that it has pushed the restoration time for 204 customers in the Gibbs Ranch area around Racetrack Road, Gibbs Drive, and Fallon Drive. The initial repair time was 12:45 p.m.; the new estimated restoration time is 2:45 p.m. The company earlier stated that this was an unplanned outage where a crew had to shut off power to make an urgent repair safely. They added, “We apologize for the delay in getting your power back on. Unforeseen issues can cause unexpected delays for our crews. We will update you as soon as we know more.”

The remaining people without electricity are around Racetrack Road, Gibbs Drive, Fallon Drive, and some other surrounding side streets. Full restoration is still anticipated by 12:45 pm.

Original story posted at 10:37 am: Sonora, CA — PG&E reports that a power outage started late in the nine o’clock hour this morning in Sonora, and the hope is to have everyone restored by early afternoon.

The outage is impacting 1,476 customers scattered around the downtown district and the surrounding area.

PG&E reports, “This is an unplanned outage. Our crew shut off power to make an urgent repair safely.”

The goal is to have everyone restored by 12:45 pm. No additional information about the cause is immediately available.
