Sonora, CA — Historically, the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving Day is the busiest travel day of the year in the U.S.

Tragically it´s also the most deadly. A year ago California registered 60 motor vehicle fatalities over the long weekend along with 1,500 driving-under-the- influence arrests.

Just last night three individuals were killed in the fog shrouded San Joaquin Valley in a two vehicle head-on collision on Hwy 145 north of Ave. 8.5.

For the Highway Patrol, this weekend marks another Maximum Enforcement Period. Officer Tom Wills says the C.H.P. will be at full staff for the morning, afternoon and graveyard shifts over the four day holiday weekend. Wills preaches patience, patience, patience!

AAA reports that over 32 million Americans will be traveling at least 50 miles from home this weekend.

And a reminder from the Highway Patrol; don´t forget to BUCKLE UP!
