Sonora, Ca — The Sonora Police Department is preparing for the influx of visitors planning to attend this week´s Sonora Christmas Parade.

Sgt. Glenn Roberts with the Sonora Police Department says there will be a maximum enforcement effort to ensure the safety of all families in attendance. Beginning at 5 pm Friday, the PD will start diverting traffic in the downtown area.

The Parade will start at 5:30 pm at the intersection of Snell St. and North Washington St. It will continue on Washington, all the way to Restano Way.

Roberts says the Parade annually draws visitors from areas such as San Francisco, Fresno, Ripon, Modesto and other California communities. They are expecting as many as 10,000 people in attendance.

Residents will want to drive with caution Friday night, and be aware of potential delays.
