San Andreas, CA — With the threat that homebound seniors would no longer receive hot meals, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to dip into the county´s reserve for some assistance.
Monday $15,000 was given to Common Ground Senior Services, the non-profit that provides meals to 170 seniors throughout the county.
The group requested the money saying that the program is not fully funded by the state and that the amount of meals served this year would be more than anticipated.
It also says Amador County contributes $15,000 annually for its share and would like Calaveras to do the same.
The board directed the group to come back at budget time with that request.
