Memmer Needs 75 Percent Of Provisional Vote To Become Sheriff-Coroner
Sonora, CA — Now that all the absentee ballots have been counted by election officials, the race comes down to 333 provisional ballots. If all of those ballots are verified, Tom Memmer would need 249 of them, or 75 percent, to score a come-from-behind victory in the two person race for Tuolumne County Sheriff-Coroner.
Excluding the provisional ballots, which have yet to be processed, Jim Mele has a total vote count of 9,854. Tom Memmer trails by 163 votes with a total of 9,691. Mele only needs 86 votes out of the 333 provisional ballots, or 25 percent, to end the race.
County Clerk and Auditor Debi Russell says the final count will probably not be determined until Monday or Tuesday.
