Sonora, CA — Wednesday evening proved to be a very special evening for Tuolumne County Special Olympics.
Approximately $1,200 was raised during the “Tip A Cop” fundraiser at Applebee´s. Four Sonora based Highway Patrol officers volunteered their evening to serve and wait on tables. Each officer joined with a Special Olympics athlete during the four hour fundraiser.
When patrons were given their respective checks they also received an envelope to “Tip A Cop” will all the proceeds going to the general fund of the local Special Olympics.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver is the founder of the Special Olympics. The organization allows athletes to interact with their peers, travel and compete in a number of sports throughout the year.
