Highly Experienced Climber Falls To His Death At Yosemite
Yosemite National Park, CA — Additional details are emerging concerning the death of 47 year old Todd Skinner of Lander, Wyoming at Yosemite Monday afternoon.
Skinner was rappelling after he and his partner, Jim Hewitt, had been working on establishing a new climbing route near Bridalveil Fall. Skinner fell 500 feet to his death. The incident is now under investigation by the Mariposa County Coroner´s Office.
Skinner was a highly experienced climber. He was the first to free climb one route at El Capitan and had climbed literally all over the world including the Himalayas. The author of Beyond The Summit had scaled peaks in Greenland, Mali, Kenya and Pakistan.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
