Update at 3:25 p.m.: CAL Fire reports that the forward spread of the Lanford Fire, a vegetation fire burning southeast of Jenny Lind in the 14900 block of Lanford Pacheco Road, has been stopped at an estimated one acre in size. A small crew will work towards full containment and then mop up for the next hour. What sparked the blaze is under investigation.
Original post at 2:43 p.m.: Valley Springs, CA — Â Air and ground resources are battling a second vegetation fire, named the Lanford Fire, in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County.
The flames broke out in the grass in the 14900 block of Lanford Pacheco Road, southeast of the Jenny Lind area, east of Milton Road. CAL Fire reports that the fire is estimated to be half an acre in size and is threatening nearby structures. An update will be provided as soon as new information becomes available in the newsroom.
