Murphys, CA — More than 100 county leaders and community members gathered Friday at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys to talk about incorporating children into community planning.
First 5 Calaveras put on the Children´s Summit to bring children´s needs to the forefront of local decision making.
Two years ago a 10-year master plan called “Our Children, Our Communities,” was completed. Planners are hoping to begin a discussion about children´s needs and put them in to action.
The day was full of presentations study sessions and group exercises.
Our Children, Our Communities board member Janet Orvis-Cook says the next step is to identify gaps in resources and include a children´s element in the county´s General Plan.
