Angels Camp Landmark Closing

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — Blondie´s Frosty, the well-known burger joint in Angels Camp, is closing its doors Sunday.

Owner Wanda Corn says the landmark giant green frog that sits in front of her business is going into storage.

Corn is the fourth owner of the business since 1952 when it was opened as a Fosters Freeze.

The popular eating establishment is closing to make way for the Angels Camp Bypass. All businesses in the way of the bypass have been given until October 8 to vacate.

The more than $30 million project will start at the Highway 4/49 intersection and connect with Highway 49 near the Rolleri Bypass.

From now through January buildings will be demolished and utilities relocated.

The project will go out to bid sometime this month and construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2007. The bypass is slated for completion by November 2009.
