San Andreas, CA — This week is national 4-H week.
4-H has more than 130,000 members in California and almost 300 members in Calaveras County.
Members in kindergarten through 12th grade participate in projects that include animal care, arts and crafts, science education, and teen leadership.
The goal is to acquire useful skills for citizenship.
The organization began 100 years ago in rural areas to serve children living on farms. Through the years the organization has reached youth in urban areas also.
