Sponsored by:

Soulsbyville, CA — 55 year old Joanne Dues will be facing charges of felony drunk driving, vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run following the death of 43 year old Jackson J. Lawe of Soulsbyville Friday evening.

Dues was traveling eastbound on Highway 108 near North Sunshine Road when she drove her car to the right and onto the paved asphalt shoulder. Lawe was walking eastbound about six feet off the roadway when he was struck from behind by Dues´ 1993 Ford Crown Victoria.

C.H.P. Spokesman Tom Wills says Lawe was propelled over the hood of the Ford, into the right side of the windshield, and then over the right side of the roof of the vehicle. After hitting the pedestrian, Dues failed to stop and drove her car to her residence in Soulsbyville.

Witnesses who followed Dues, called the Highway Patrol to report her location. She was subsequently arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail.
