Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The amount of marijuana plants eradicated in the Mother Lode continues to grow, thanks to the work of several government agencies.

This week, the Tuolumne Narcotics Team eradicated a marijuana garden near Wrights Creek above Long Barn.

They pulled more than 2,000 plants from the grow site. Reports indicate so far this month, they have eradicated similar grows in the Bear Creek and Merrill Springs areas.

The plant counts from those two grows totaled more than 3,400 plants. This month´s work brings the year to date total, for plants pulled from public lands in Tuolumne County to 47,854, which is the highest plant count of any year in the county´s history.

There has been ammunition recovered from each site, however, no weapons have been left behind by the growers. Other items of evidence have been recovered and are currently being processed.

It is hoped some of the items located will help authorities identify the people responsible for the gardens.
