Tuolumne County Merchants On Lookout For Bad Checks

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department says merchants in Tuolumne County should be on the lookout for bad checks.

Over the last 30 days, numerous checks have been passed to local merchants on closed accounts.

So far, the checks passed are in the names and accounts of Brenda Renee Teunissen-Dutra Rental Homes & Properties, written on a Guaranty Bank account, Oakdale Branch, and Brenda R. Teunissen-Dutra written on a Bank of America account, Oakdale Branch.

The person passing the checks is described as being a white woman in her late thirties. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes. At this time, police do not know if the person passing the checks is also the person listed on the checks.

Merchants are asked to contact the Sonora Police Department if they have received any checks written on the above accounts. Merchants are also reminded to ask for and examine proper identification, when accepting checks.

If someone should attempt to pass a check on one of the above listed accounts, obtain as much information as possible on the person attempting to pass the check. Also note any other people associated with them and any vehicle they may be using and contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
