Angels Camp Police Officer Involved In Accident

Angels Camp, CA — An Angels Camp police unit was involved in a two car accident Sunday evening on Hwy 4 east of Hwy 49 in Angels Camp.
81 year old Charlie Reeder of San Andreas was headed westbound. As he rounded a curve he drifted to the left over the center line and collided with Officer Steve Poortinga´s eastbound police unit.
A Calaveras County Sheriff´s Deputy who witnessed the collision provided immediate medical aid to both drivers until the Angels Camp Fire Department arrived. Both parties were transported from the scene with minor injuries.
Reeder told investigating officers he was momentarily blinded by the headlights of the patrol car.
