Sonora, CA– Several Sierra United boys and girls teams competed in tournaments across the Central Valley and Bay Area over the weekend, with multiple squads advancing to the championship round.
The 2007 boys team, coached by Zac Garman and Jonathon Foley, claimed first place at the Ballistic United Fall Classic in Pleasanton. Meanwhile, the 2012 boys, led by coaches Scott Rexwinkle and Trish Anderson, captured the title at the Luis Silveira Memorial Tournament in Turlock. The 2012 girls team, coached by Michael Portillo and Caitlyn Sparks, also had a strong showing in Turlock, finishing as tournament runner-up.
A notable storyline from the weekend, eight of the players across both the 2007 and 2012 boys teams are brothers from four local families. Michelle and James Evan, Candice and Justin Meyers, Drs.
